The Story

I found this beat-up old stool curbside around the corner from my house in the Glover Park neighborhood of D.C. It looked like something you might have seen in a laboratory 50 years ago. I aimed to freshen it up and give it a whole new look. I painted the legs a fresh color, “Seaside” by Rust-Oleum, in gloss, and cleaned up the chrome bar. The faux leather top was totally ruined, so I removed it and created a new one with a base cut from medium density fiberboard and some thick foam and batting and upholstery fabric (from Joann), selected to complement the leg color and extend the overall aqua theme.
