Charging Station and Recycling Table

My wife and I needed a dedicated place to charge our phones and other small electronic devices. We had a small wall with an electrical outlet in our dining room that was the ideal place for it. For a long time, we had kept a basket there for paper recycling, so I needed to accommodate that. I designed and built a small table with a lower shelf to hold that basket and a top shelf for items being charged. I used newly purchased pine lumber to create the frame and legs, which I painted matte black. For the top shelf I selected two pieces of pallet wood, which I cut to size and rounded off the front corners. For the bottom shelf I used a leftover piece of new oak lumber. I sanded the wood for both shelves, applied Minwax “Red Mahogany” stain, finished them with three coats of Minwax water-based clear satin Polycrylic, and secured them to the frame with glue and screws.
