Permit Parking Sign End Table with Black Pipe Legs

Sold to a former work colleague. Dimensions: Length/Width 18.75 inches square, Height 25 inches, Weight 25 pounds. inches. Stark graphic design will make a statement in a living room, den, or bedroom. A polished-edge, removable glass pane covers the sign. Legs are ½-inch back pipe—a product measured by its internal diameter; the external diameter is a little over ¾ inch. The crisscross legs add some unexpected flair. The flange “feet” are adjustable, which is great if the floor has any unevenness. $200.

The Story

I found the sign in an abandoned area, not in a parking lot, while walking my dog. I immediately imagined a table. I scrubbed the sign clean. I built the top out of plywood and pine trim and painted it semi-gloss black. I glued the sign down with Liquid Nails and purchased a custom-cut piece of glass. I crisscrossed the pipe legs for a few reasons. First, the standard lengths of black pipe were not an ideal fit for a more traditional approach given the table’s dimensions. Second, without a connecting piece, it creates more stability than if the legs were parallel with the sides. Third, it’s an eye-catching deviation from the norm; sometimes you just have to break the rules.
