Pirate Treasure Chest

Dimensions: Length 30 inches, Width 16 inches, Height 20 inches. For more than a decade I’ve led events in my workplace to celebrate International Talk Like A Pirate Day (yes, it’s a real thing). During this time, I’ve acquired a lot of pirate-themed stuff. So, I decided to build a treasure chest in which to keep it all. I first made a frame out of underlayment attached to 2x2 vertical pieces in the four corners. I clad it with pallet wood, which I had sanded, stained with Minwax “Red Mahogany,” and finished with Minwax water-based clear satin Polycrylic. I added antique-looking handles and hinges and a skull. Inside the lid, I painted a few skulls and crossbones. Arrr!
