Reclaimed Wine Cork Wreath

To make this project I began by using a jigsaw to cut out a donut-shaped piece of medium density fiberboard. I determined the appropriate width of the circular band by considering how wide three corks side by side would be. I chose the overall diameter more subjectively, based on ratios I thought would look good, but if the inside diameter were any smaller, it could be hard to attach whole corks to the inside edge. It hangs in our dining room. At Christmastime I add some “berries” made from champagne corks, supplemented with paper versions of holly leaves, for a little holiday spirit.
